Pete Luckett
Pete's Frootique

Leaving home at the early age of 16 to seek his fortune, Pete decided to tackle the produce business in the open-stall markets of his home in Nottingham, England. Encouraged by his father's heavy work ethic, Pete peddled his wares, learned the 'gift of gab' and mastered the magic of connecting with his customers. Pete immigrated to Saint John, NB, in 1979 where he parlayed a tiny market stall stocked with $300 worth of produce into a thriving empire.
Nearly 30 years later, Pete is reaping the harvest of those seeds planted and cultivated, with a multi-million dollar, 18,000 square foot retail and wholesale operation as vibrant and colourful as Pete himself. In 1999, 2003 and 2005 Pete's Frootique earned the Canadian Independent Grocer of the Year Award. More than produce, his businesses include, among other things, a Power Juice Bar, a European Delicatessen, a Gourmet Butcher Shop, a British specialty food emporium and an independent wine store.
Listen as Pete shares the thrill, excitement and challenges of bringing his exotic produce, foods and wines from around the world to your dining room table.
